Future Prospects League Has Merged with Ohio Prospects League!
The Future Prospects League has merged with the Ohio Prospects League. Now there will be two divisions within the Ohio Prospects League. A major division for the top teams in the area that wish to play against the top talent from around Northeast Ohio. Then there will be a minor or hometown division. Now the Ohio Prospects League has a division for all travel teams and all competition levels. This allows for your team to maximize your ability as a coach by playing in close, competitive games to teach your players on how to make the correct plays.
Here are the divisions within the Ohio Prospects League for 2017:
MAJOR Division--top travel teams in Northeast Ohio. It is the OPL as we know it from 2016 and previous years.
MINOR Division--also known as a "hometown" division. This division is for city based travel teams and teams that are at the same competitive level. It will be split into two levels: AAA and AA. The AAA is the more competitive level while the AA is for more developmental teams.
Although the OPL will encompass all of Northeast Ohio, including the Akron area, we will regionalize teams to keep travel at a minimum. In each age group, there will be three regions--East, West and South. And within each region, we will separate into two categories--Major and Minor. In doing so, we will keep travel to a minimum and keep an equitable competition level. We would like to create an opportunity to have a Northeast Ohio championship at every age group.
In addition, the Ohio Prospects League will be a registered USSSA Sanctioned League from 9u-14u and will be automatically registered with the USSSA. This allows for your team to only play one qualifier and then be able to play in the USSSA State Tournament. What a great opportunity and a big money saver too. In addition, there will be many USSSA local tournaments for both the Major division and the Minor division teams to attend. Being in the OPL saves your team both money and time in registering for USSSA. Also, USSSA Insurance will be offered at a reduced price through the Ohio Prospects League.
Other amenities of the Ohio Prospects League is the great relationship we have with Victory Park in North Ridgeville. The Diamond League and Ohio Prospects League teams get preference when it comes to renting fields at Victory Park. This is very helpful to west side teams looking for field times.
If you are a returning team to the Ohio Prospects League, we welcome you back for a great 2017 season. And we ask you to spread the word about what a well run league that you are a part of.
